As a Financial Institutions Business Development Manager, your main objective is to innovate, develop, and drive high-value trade finance products. You will collaborate with business segments and product houses to grow trade finance business volumes and ensure top-notch service delivery.
The role
The successful jobholder will be expected to:
- Create new Trade Finance products to expand the Bank’s contingent book and non-funded income streams.
- Develop and execute sales strategies for Trade Finance products to meet targets in alignment with the Bank’s overall strategy.
- Streamline product process flows and operations manuals to maintain quality and efficiency standards.
- Identify market trends and translate them into new or re-engineered Trade Finance products to generate profitable business.
- Originate and structure business deals, using term sheets effectively and mitigating inherent risks.
- Build and maintain relationships with local and international Financial Institutions to derive Trade Finance business.
- Identify opportunities and threats to position trade finance products competitively within stipulated service level agreements.
- Work with other departmental teams to structure trade finance transactions, ensuring efficient and timely customer service while safeguarding against transactional risks.
- Keep track of competitor activities, assess their impact, and plan actions to maintain a competitive edge.
- Champion risk approvals, manage trade portfolio risks, and provide structured solutions to mitigate risks.
- Provide continuous trade product knowledge to Relationship Managers, Business Bankers, and Customers through training sessions, workshops, and forums.
- Drive overall client satisfaction and loyalty by ensuring superior client-oriented culture and high-quality service delivery.
- Implement and monitor KYC and ALM measures in line with Bank and Regulatory requirements.
Qualifications, Skills & Attributes
The successful jobholder will be required to possess the following qualifications:
- A University Degree or ACIB or equivalent and have specialized knowledge of UCP 600, URDG 758, URC 522, and Incoterms 2010.
- A solid understanding of international trade rules, excellent negotiating skills, and strong analytical abilities.
- Awareness of product pricing, basic computer skills including Microsoft Office, and the ability to multitask and work effectively under pressure
- Strong interpersonal skills, be a team player, have the tact and diplomacy to develop customer relationships, and be dynamically sales-oriented and results-driven.
- A focused and dynamic individual with the ability to package solutions that fit emerging customer needs, drive sales and uptake of trade finance products, and have comprehensive knowledge of trade finance products and services.
- Capable of driving revenue from various streams such as LC commissions, guarantee commission, interest revenue, and structuring fees.
