Our client, a Regulated Non-Withdrawable Deposit Taking Sacco medium in Size with membership from a large number of Christian organizations which is based in Nairobi County, is seeking to recruit qualified and professionals Credit Officer with high synergy to meet the SACCO’s set goals and objectives.

CREDIT OFFICER (REF: CO/04/25)

Reporting to: The CEO

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Review loan applications to ensure that they are complete and accurate in accordance with the Credit policy.
  • Submit applications for verification and recommendation by the CEO and the Credit Committee.
  • Handle customer complaints and inquiries and take appropriate action to resolve them.
  • Liaising with the CEO in coordinating credit sub-committee meetings by availing the required information, reports and duly appraised loan forms for consideration.
  • Preparing and finalizing credit reports (loans report, ageing analysis/Defaulters Report, loan Tracker and remittance status) and forwarding to the CEO for recommendations.
  • Co-ordinate debt collection and guide the other staff on debt collection.
  • Monitoring members’ loan repayments for compliance to the loan agreements.
  • Check on the allocated non-performing loans, extrapolate them, communicate to members and make follow up.
  • Negotiate payment arrangements/plans with customers who have delinquent loans.
  • Write letters to defaulting units, defaulting members and guarantors and make follow up.
  • Develop and implement credit policies
  • Develop and implement credit products
  • Performs any other duties as required.

Minimum years of experience required to have to be appointed to the position:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Credit Management, Cooperative Management, Accounting, Business Management or equivalent
  • CPA K or its equivalent
  • Minimum Five (5) years of relevant experience
  • Knowledge of SASRA regulations will be an added advantage

Other competencies:

  • Very good command of both written and oral English
  • Ability to advise senior management and member stakeholders on credit management initiatives.
  • Strong business acumen and be highly dependable.
  • Good customer service and interpersonal relations skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite of Packages
