Our client, an association with country-wide membership in Kenya is seeking suitable and qualified persons to fill the position of Association Chief Executive Officer (REF: CEO/12/2022).


Duties & responsibilities

Reporting to the board of directors, the Association’s Chief Executive Officer shall be responsible for the day-to-day running of the Association’s operations. Specific duties shall include;

  1. Co-ordinate the Association’s activities to ensure optimum and efficient utilization of assets and resources;
  2. Oversee strategic growth of the Association through aggressive mobilization and onboarding of membership across the country;
  3. Keep updated and complete the membership register of the Association;
  4. Develop and sustain positive and proactive relationships with key education and industry stakeholders across the country;
  5. Develop, review and oversee the implementation and adherence to the Association’s policies, procedures, internal systems, structures, standards, and controls to improve the quality of service;
  6. Management and coordination of the daily affairs, programs, and activities of the association in a competent manner;
  7. Development and supervision of all members of staff in the head office and various regions;
  8. Setting up a performance management system and evaluation of staff performance;
  9. Develop a realistic Association’s annual budget for approval by the national executive committee and operate within the budget;
  10. Implementation of the Association’s strategic plan and business plans;
  11. Attend all national executive committee meetings as secretary and in an advisory capacity; 
  12. Represent the association in forums, business transactions, and any other transaction authorized by the national executive committee;
  13. Ensure compliance with all laws, regulations, and statutory requirements by regulatory bodies;
  14. Keeping abreast of industry developments and updating the National executive committee members on a timely basis;
  15. Timely preparation and presentation of various progress and management reports to the national executive committee;
  16. Any other lawful duty that may be assigned by the national executive committee from time to time;

  • In-depth understanding of the education sector in Kenya
  • Strategic thinker and results-oriented.
  • Proven leadership and administrative capacity
  • Judgment and decision-making ability
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • An eloquent speaker and good presentation skills
  • High financial management capability 

Qualifications

The candidate should have:

  • Master’s degree in business related field or its equivalent from a recognized university
  • CPS (K) or its equivalent
  • 5 years of practical experience in a vibrant industry association of which 3 years must be in a management position
  • Work experience in the education sector will be an added advantage
  • Qualification/relevant experience in the education services sector and/ or membership to a recognized professional body advantage will be an added advantage
  • Proficient in Microsoft office suite
